Training workshop by OIC-OSHNET and ENETOSH

The training workshop titled “Developing Strategies for Mainstreaming Safety and Health in Education Systems” was organized by the Directorate General of Occupational Safety and Health (DGOSH) of the Republic of Türkiye in collaboration with ENETOSH. This training, held on 25-26 October, was for the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Occupational Safety and Health Network (OIC-OSHNET) member countries.

New study by Ugochi Obidiegwu

According to the CDC, unintentional injury is the leading cause of death in children below 14. This study by Ugochi Obidiegwu (The Safety Chic, Project Safety Education: Train Them Young Initiative -#2TYI) was aimed at demonstrating the effects of a regular safety education program on the knowledge levels of children in primary 4, 5, and 6 leveraging creative expressions. The study used a self-designed survey to collect data from a range of participants obtained through a convenience sampling method to derive results. The research showed that after a defined timeframe, the learner's safety knowledge level increased and they were able to share new knowledge with others by leveraging different creative expressions.

Associated Schools Project

The Danish UNESCO-ASP (Associated Schools Project) network is part of the International UNESCO ASP Network, which presently includes 11,500 schools and educational institutions in 182 countries.

The Danish UNESCO ASP network contains of 37 schools: three primary, 14 primary & lower secondary, 18 upper secondary schools, one vocational training, and two teacher training Colleges. All together they are called Sustainable Development Goals Schools – in short UNESCO SDG Schools.

Held each year in October (calendar week 43), the European Week for Safety and Health at Work is a highlight of every Healthy Workplaces Campaign. With hundreds of awareness-raising events taking place across the EU and beyond — and extra impetus given to media coverage — it is the ideal opportunity to get involved in the campaign.

Special film screenings, social media events, conferences, exhibitions, competitions and training sessions are just some of the activities organised to celebrate European Week.

The ORP (Occupational Risk Prevention) International Foundation is an international, independent, non-profit institution committed to improving the quality of working life and improving innovation in companies.

ENETOSH has now been invited to join ORP’s Institutional Advisory Committee.

Campaign for climate education

Teach the Future is a youth-led campaign in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, longing to urgently repurpose the entire education system around the climate emergency and ecological crisis. Students need to be taught about the climate emergency and ecological crisis, educators need to be trained in how to teach about these difficult topics in a way that empowers students, the UK needs a workforce able to bring the UK to net-zero emissions and make it a world leader in sustainable technologies.

AT WORK: ONE LIFE, ONE PLANET

The 23rd ORP International Congress will be held from April 26 to 28, 2023 at the Euskalduna Palace in Bilbao (Spain). ORP is the International Conference of reference in the field of Healthy Companies, Health and Safety, Technology and Innovation, organized by the ORP International Foundation and the Specific Center for Innovation and Improvement in Companies of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya ( CERpIE-UPC) with the support of EasyTech Global Colombia.

Booklet now available

This booklet presents 16 examples of good practice (8 winners and 8 commended) from the 15th Healthy Workplaces Good Practice Awards promoting ways of preventing work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) from Austria, Cyprus, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Latvia, Slovenia, Belgium, Spain, Finland and The Netherlands.

United Nations, New York, 16, 17 & 19 September 2022

Recognizing that education is a human right and a foundation for peace, tolerance, other human rights and sustainable development, the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General is convening world leaders for a Transforming Education Summit (TES) on Monday 19 September 2022, as a key milestone in the advancement of Our Common Agenda. The Summit will be preceded by engagements on Mobilization and Solutions on Friday, 16 and Saturday, 17 September respectively, in which ministerial-participation is encouraged.
