Interactive university teaching, which gives students the change to deal with their social and ecological responsibility, is possible. Blue Engineering is an innovative course offered by TU Berlin which calls for future engineers as well as students of other backgrounds generally interested in technology.

The Blue Engineering kit consists of over 150 building blocks for the social and ecological responsibility of the engineering profession. These 15, 30, 60 or 90-minute learning/teaching units, which are well-documented in terms of content and didactics, largely shift the learning and teaching process to the participants. As a result, they can be used in very different learning/teaching contexts with little preparation time.

This online learning game is supposed to help to build a culture of prevention including a safe and healthy behavior. It is about team building, leadership and participation. It is based on the 5-step model. The model describes five behavioral patterns (“levels”) for the day-to-day handling of a company's safety and health. The stage model offers a common quality measure and its aim is to assess one's own current measures for operational prevention by classifying the company, department or team in one of the five stages. Each stage can then be described for each of the six fields of action.
The five stages leading to a culture of prevention are: indifferent – reactive – rule-orientated – pro-active – adding value

The Vienna Ombuds Office for Environmental Protection — in collaboration with international and national experts from the Austrian Worker‘s Compensation Board (AUVA — Allgemeine Unfallversicherungsanstalt), the Austrian Society for Hygiene, Microbiology and Preventive Medicine, the Vienna Hospital Association, the Bureau for Chemical Engineering TB-Klade and other institutions — developed the Viennese Database of Disinfectants, WIDES.
This database is freely available online, in both English and German, and has two functions. First, it provides structured information on disinfectants and their ingredients, including information on efficacy, hazard classification, properties, uses, activity, material compatibility and toxicity/eco-toxicity. Second, it provides an assessment of hazardous properties, ranking ingredients from low to high risk. The hazard categories are as follows: ‘Acute toxicity (respiratory tract)’, ‘Irritation and corrosivity’, ‘Allergenic potential’, ‘Mutagenic, carcinogenic, toxic for reproduction, chronically toxic’, ‘Behaviour in surface water — acute’ and ‘Behaviour in surface water — chronic’. Thus, the hazardous properties of more than 200 disinfectant ingredients are compiled in an overview table and are easily accessible and comparable using WIDES.
