The integration of safety and health into education
IAG report 1/2018e written by Ulrike Bollmann, Robert Gründler and Matthew Holder
This report presents the results of an empirical study on examples of good practice from the ENETOSH database. The study contributes to the "practical evidence" of OSH integration in education and learning processes at four levels of education (pre-school/school, initial vocational education, higher education and continuing vocational education). The study facilitates access to examples of good practice, identifies good models and provides recommendations for future action for practitioners, multipliers and policy makers.

Standards in education and training for safety and health at work
IAG Report 4/2011e
Standards in education and training for safety and health at work – European perspectives, promising developments and examples of good practice
How important are standards for education and training in occupational safety and health? That was the question explored by participants from 19 countries at the DGUV Academy in Dresden from 6 to 7 July 2007. The presentations and discussions addressed the factors that led to educational standards being developed at the European level and the activities involved, plus real-life examples from the international and national spheres. Particular attention was given to standards of competence for training programmes for lecturers and trainers.
The event was staged by lead organiser, the European Network Education and Training in Occupational Safety and Health (ENETOSH), in cooperation with the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA). This report is based on the results of this conference. It covers the conference contributions, some of them revised, plus three additional papers.

ENETOSH standard of competence for instructors and trainers in safety and health
ENETOSH’s special focus is on improving the competences of teachers and trainers as the determining factor for high-quality education and training in OSH. Well-qualified teachers are key to developing a culture of prevention in Europe. They need appropriate competences to ensure the transfer of knowledge about safety and health; to promote changes in perceptions, attitudes and behaviour in children and adults regarding their own safety and health; and to foster the establishment of a safety and health culture in schools and workplaces.
Taking its lead from the debate on the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) held by ministers of education and training, European social partners and the European Commission, ENETOSH has developed a standard containing competence profiles for teachers and trainers in OSH.
