New Coordinator of ENETOSH
Steffi Niederhuber, German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV)
My name is Steffi Niederhuber and I am a Senior Expert at the Institute for Work and Health of the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV). I hold a bachelor’s degree in economics, a master’s degree in International Cooperation, and a certificate in prevention. Prior to that, I worked in the field of Humanitarian Aid and Development Cooperation in India, the Philippines, Lebanon, and Germany. This experience enabled me to join DGUV in their field of Corporate Responsibility and Training in 2019. Previously, I mainly worked on a cooperation project to improve labor and social standards in Pakistan’s textile industry.
Now, the time has come to pursue an exciting new task: I am happy to announce that I have joined the ENETOSH network, not solely as a member but also, starting from 2025, as the new network coordinator.
Being an active part of this network will allow me to gain new insights and contribute to the dissemination of innovative projects. I look forward to the opportunity to learn from and work alongside like-minded professionals around the world.

Decision to join ENETOSH
Our decision to become a member of ENETOSH stems from our firm belief that education and training in occupational health and safety are essential for preventing accidents and promoting a safe and healthy work environment. With our extensive experience in accident prevention and the development of OSH training programs, we are eager to actively contribute to the objective of ENETOSH. Additionally, membership in ENETOSH offers us a valuable opportunity to learn from the good practices of other members. We are particularly interested in expanding our expertise in initial training and aim to better integrate occupational safety, health, and well-being into training programs in Luxembourg.
Brief professional profiles of Annick and Paul:
Annick holds a doctorate in Civil Engineering and began her career in the energy sector before transitioning to accident prevention in 2014. Since 2016, she has been leading the AAA’s Prevention Department, where she played a key role in the successful implementation of the VISION ZERO strategy in Luxembourg. Paul holds a master's degree in Industrial and Mechanical Engineering and began his career in accident prevention. After transitioning to vocational education and training for several years, he rejoined the AAA's Prevention Department in 2023. His key areas of focus include evolving work environments, emerging trends, and their impact on workplace safety, health, and well-being.
The AAA is a public institution responsible for the prevention of and compensation for work-related accidents, commuting accidents and occupational diseases. In the area of prevention, the AAA has a “Prevention” department, which focuses on information, advice and training for companies.
Tasks of the Prevention Department are information, advice and awareness-raising on safety and health at work, provision of information materials (brochures, posters, etc.), training, control and monitoring of legislation and regulations on safety and health at work, development of recommendations for accident prevention, prevention campaigns, analysis of the causes of occupational accidents and diseases and management of the bonus-malus system.

New member of the Steering Committee
Georgios Boustras, Professor in Risk Assessment, Dean of the Ioannis Gregoriou School of Business Administration, Director of CERIDES – Excellence in Innovation and Technology, Editor-in-Chief, Safety Science (Elsevier), European University Cyprus
I was born in Athens in May 1973. Currently I serve as a Professor in Risk Assessment at European University Cyprus which is based in Nicosia. I also serve as the Editor-in-Chief of Safety Science, published by Elsevier, an influential journal on safety. I have been an ENETOSH Ambassador for a few years and together with my colleagues Dr Cleo Varianou Mikellidou (Lecturer in OSH) and Dr Olga Nicolaidou (Visiting lecturer in OSH) we are doing our best to promote OSH education in Cyprus and South East Mediterranean. For over a decade we have been running our MSc and PhD programs in Occupational Safety and Health with a large number of graduates and 10 PhD’s so far. As a theoretician, I firmly believe that education and training is an integral part, a fundamental part of building, promoting and establishing a safety culture. ENETOSH is doing exactly that! It promotes education and training in OSH in the best possible way in a global level. A few years ago, I had the opportunity to substantiate that through my collaboration with Ulrike Bollmann and the product of that is our edited book “Safety and Health Competence: A Guide for Cultures of Prevention”. I am grateful to Ulrike for showing me the way to combine OSH with Education.
Having been a member of the OSH community for many years, I feel passionate about educating and training our practitioners and our aspiring students and I am sure that I will have the opportunity to contribute to that with my new responsibilities at the Board of ENETOSH. I am passionate about becoming acquainted with new people and cultures and I hope to meet you in a future ENETOSH event. For sure you will have the opportunity to meet myself, Olga and Cleo in WOS 2026 that will take place in Nicosia!

The institute and its director, Amardeep Mishra, is dedicated to providing affordable education with excellent facilities, knowledge, and qualifications. The goal is to ensure everyone has access to health, safety, and environmental management education, fostering a safe culture and protecting our natural environment, including rivers, oceans, flora, and fauna.
