Romanian National Research Institute on Occupational Safety and Health ”Alexandru Darabont”

Founded in 1951 by Romanian Academy, National Research and Development Institute of Occupational Safety – I.N.C.D.P.M. ”Alexandru Darabont” Bucharest has carried out a continuous activity dedicated to health protection and ensuring the safety of workers, the most valuable resource an organization possesses. The institute has as its main objective the conduct of fundamental and applied scientific research to combat the risks of accidents and occupational diseases in order to ensure the safety and health of employees in work processes. The main areas of research, development and technology transfer covered are: chemical and biological risks, electrical and mechanical risks, ergonomics, noise and vibration, personal protective equipment, and risk assessment and occupational health and safety management. The certification body operating within the institute is accredited in accordance with the standard SR EN ISO/IEC 17065:2013 "Conformity assessment. Requirements for bodies certifying products, processes and services" for carrying out the specific conformity assessment tasks provided by Regulation (EU) 2016/425, having the RENAR Accreditation Certificate no. ON 092 and notified to the European Commission with no. NB 2756. INCDPM "Alexandru Darabont" has hosted the Focal Point for Romania of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) since 2001. In this capacity, it actively participates in achieving the objectives of the Agency's multi-annual campaigns and in disseminating information in the field of occupational safety and health in the country.

Romtens Foundation

Romtens Foundation has been working with the Ministry of Public Health in the workplace health promotion field of activity and is currently providing consultancy and expertise to various other Romanian institutions within the health system (Public Health Authorities, Public Health Institutes and Centres). As a consequence of this line of activities Romtens Foundation has established various partnerships with other national institutes and agencies; among its most valuable achievements is the Romanian Network for Workplace Health Promotion counting almost 200 enterprises and organizations.
At European level Romtens Foundation is involved in several European Networks active in the Public Health and Occupational Health domains, mainly the European Network for Workplace Health Promotion, for which is the National Contact Office (being also a member of the Steering Committee). Other networks in which Romtens Foundation is also involved are: the European Network for Smoking Prevention (ENSP), European Public Health Alliance (EPHA) and the International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE).
The main types of activity performed by the ROMTENS Foundation are:
Technical Assistance and Evaluation Services provided to government, community organizations and businesses, relying on sound information, analysis and strategic thinking as the best foundations for decision-making
Quantitative and Qualitative Research provided to stakeholders for reliable information about the effectiveness of existing policies and potential strategies for action
Monitoring and Evaluation for national and international interventions
Training in health related regulatory requirements, program guidelines, policies and practices
Promotion and Information Campaigns using a wide array of communication techniques harnessed in projects for communicating specific messages to a broader audience, for communicating specific information to targeted/specific audiences.
