A project by the Seamen’s Pension Fund (Merimieselakekassa) to support Finnish seafarers’ occupational well-being and working capacity by developing the operations of the shipping companies, their occupational health care systems and occupational safety organizations. The main focus of the project has been on health hazard assessment and preventive measures. The personnel of the shipping companies, the personnel administration and occupational health care cooperate to promote the functionality of the workplace communities on board. Seafarers are encouraged to take care of their own well-being whether they are at home with their families or working at sea.
