The “Think Twice, Lift Once” program began in 2007, and is a joint ad campaign between WorkSafeBC and the BC Chiropractic Association. The goal of the campaign is to increase awareness around back health and back injury prevention, and it includes a brochure and updates to the Back at Work web site. In 2008, a series of TV and radio commercials launched urging people not to try to be superheroes by lifting heavy objects; the spots focus on the need to be careful when lifting at work, at home, and at play. In 2009, the campaign expanded to include a distribution partnership with Acklands Granger, where campaign decals and brochures are distributed through two Lower Mainland locations of the auto parts supplier, to remind customers about the importance of proper lifting to prevent back injuries.
