Anyone starting an apprenticeship as an automotive mechatronics technician will receive safety instructions both in the company and in the workshop. Depending on the area of responsibility, this instruction is repeated at least once a year. This can quickly become monotonous for the trainees, especially if they are not included in the development of safety-relevant rules. To add fun and motivation to the training, the trainees in this teaching unit work out the safety rules independently: using smartphones or tablets, they produce stop-motion videos about typical dangerous situations in vehicle workshops and how to deal with these situations correctly. In doing so, they reflect on appropriate, safety-oriented behavior.
