Linz Academy of Occupational Medicine and Safety
The Linz Academy offers a three part course including 480 hours over a training period of one year. Approximately one third of these courses is teamwork in regional training teams guided by mentors. The seminars include theoretical and practical elements, consisting of
- lectures
- company / workplace visits and intervention exercises
- research and intervention projects
- elearning elements including practical training of internet based applications
- practical projects in regional 3-person training teams consisting of occ doctors, safety specialists, and occupational nurses
- regional training guided by mentors
- reporting of team activities and sharing of results via internet
Main target is the development of the ability to design and communicate preventive interventions in workplace situations, development of ability to cooperate with other specialists (ie safety specialists)and handling of relative problems in different types and sizes of companies / organisations;
The fee is 6800 EUR
Evaluation:
- In-course evaluation via regular feedback from participants
- assessment of course structure and development by external advisory panel
- involvement of cooperating experts from OHS institutions as well as former participants and mentors in development of new elements / improving existing elements
- academy board is actively involved in Europe wide new developments by participating in relevant acitivities / sharing and comparison of experiences within the EASOM European Association of Schools of Occupational Medicine
- regularly students of relevant sciences (psychology; pedagogics; sociology) are invited and encouraged to carry out studies of aspects of the course in order to provide external feedback, develop new issues, gain data
- regular meetings of former participants are encouraged under cooperation of the academy in order to gain feedback from alumni working in various sectors of the economy
