Our "Hot Topic" #8 is: Violence Prevention. Bullying, harassing and all forms of violence can be a big problem in Kindergarten and at school. This problem is often hard to handle or to prevent, so teachers, employees in child-care centres and the pupils themselves need help and training.

Here is our "Hot Topic" #7: First Aid. First aid is, of course, of high importance for safety at the workplace or at school. Because of this, it is part of many projects or campaigns dealing with occupational safety and health. Once we focus risks, we have to take care of first aid as well. Every apprentice, pupil and worker should at least basically know about first aid and what to do and how to react in case of accidents. In our collection of good practice examples, we have a number of projects with first aid playing an important role. This is our sixth "Hot Topic": Risk assessment
To prevent accidents and to make worklife more secure, risk assessment and the ability to perceive risks in advance, is of immense importance. There are so many different risks that can be "hidden" in everyday work in the different professions or fields of work, therefore projects or programs that can help workers to see risks of their workfield in advance, cover a wide range.

Our fifth "Hot Topic" is "Healthy Children". Children are our future - and their health and their awareness of healthy behaviour and of health-related dangers are very important! A couple of projects, campaigns and courses all over Europe deal with this topic, so please have a look at our selection of good practice examples!

Our fourth "Hot Topic" is "Road Safety". This issue is of high importance - especially, but not only for children! Every day, kids and young people have to face dangerous, unclear or bemusing traffic situations, so training campaigns or projects dealing with this topic can help dealing with these situations and avoid injuries and accidents. In our database, we have several examples dealing with road safety, mainly in the Kindergarten/School sector, but as well in the sector "Initial Vocational Education and Training". Our third "Hot Topic" is "Construction Safety". It is well known, that building sites and other workplaces related to the construction sector are full of risks because of many workers at the same site, heavy loads lifted and moved, risky materials being handled, unhealthy worktechniques and machines of different kinds that are used by workers. On this platform, we have a wide range of good practice examples concerning the construction sector. These examples deal with different construction- related topics, e.g. avoiding accidents at building sites, physical problems of workers and different ways of bringing OSH to building sites. It all starts at school: learning how to read and to write, how to calculate and many other things. This is important, indeed, but not less important is knowledge about safety and health.

This is our first "Hot Topic": noise, sound and listening.
From our first cry to our last moan, we are exposed to sounds of all kinds. These may be nice sounds, gentle or loud, it may be music, but it may as well be noise - traffic-, environmental- or work-related noise.
Awareness of handling with sound and protecting against noise damages is very important, starting at kindergarten and school and continuing during the whole work life.
